HI, I'M MADDIE 👋

I was diagnosed with coeliac disease 4 years ago, in my mid-20s. Having grown up in a foodie family with no previous coeliac history, it came as a bit of a shock (to say the least!).

At first - being completely honest - it all felt quite doom and gloom. It's easy to laugh about it now, but back then I remember crying when my favourite chocolate shop had nothing I could eat any more. I wondered if I'd ever be able to enjoy a takeaway safely again, or have my mum and dad's Christmas dinner.

The good news is, I've found just about anything is possible with the right recipe and a solid support network. And I want to help with both! Let's do the hard stuff together so we can get on with enjoying our lives to the fullest again! 😊

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS....

... even kinda bitter ones (👀😂)... you can still choose to make lemonade!

I'm now 4 years on from my coeliac disease diagnosis and I've honestly had some of the best food experiences of my life in that time. I think maybe I've appreciated them even more having first grieved what I thought I was losing when I was diagnosed.

NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO MISS OUT

I think this is everyone's fear when they finally get their diagnosis: a life without the 'good stuff'. It's easy to be scared that your life will change because of coeliac disease. To some extent, it will. I've 100% had negative experiences as a coeliac, and they suck - and it's so important we acknowledge that. On those days it's so important to try and lean on others in the coeliac community, who really 'get it' and can make you feel more seen and understood.

Nevertheless, when I look at the bigger picture over the last four years, I've had some of the best experiences of my life. I feel so much happier and healthier, I have more energy, I have eaten fantastic food at home and on holiday and have been able to share it with the wonderful people I love. If you're at the beginning of your coeliac journey, know that you can have this too. With a bit of time, some trial and error, and the coeliac community to cheer you on, you've got this. 🙌
